Advent for Everyone: Luke

Advent for Everyone: Luke provides readers with an inspirational guide through the Advent season, from the first Sunday in Advent through the Saturday after the Fourth Sunday in Advent. Popular biblical scholar and author N. T. Wright provides his own Scripture translation and brief reflection, exploring the Gospel themes of faith, repentance, justice, and celebration.

Wright’s engaging reflections take you on a journey of spiritual enlightenment, guiding you toward the wonder and joy of Christmas. This book is suitable for both individual and group study and reflection.

“N.T. Wright brings his usual historical and exegetical skills to bear on the Gospel of Luke in a pastorally thoughtful and accessible manner.” —Presbyterian Outlook

“Insightful daily meditations based on the gospel of Luke.” —Bill Tammeus, “Faith Matters” blog

“Jesus, Wright shows, was born into a society plagued by political power plays, theological divisions, shifting loyalties, and economic injustice. Discussion prompts at the end of each reflection encourage readers to connect these first-century realities with the challenges of our own day. Through Wright’s lively writing and thoughtful prompts, Luke’s questions become our questions and his good news becomes our good news.” —The Christian Century

N. T. Wright is Research Professor Emeritus of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and Senior Research Fellow at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He is the author of numerous books, including Paul: A Biography, On Earth as in Heaven: Daily Wisdom for Twenty-First Century Christians and What Did the Cross Accomplish? A Conversation about the Atonement (with Simon Gathercole and Robert B. Stewart).
