The biblical Jeremiah is seen as a prophet of judgement and doom. He believed the hard times befalling Judah were the result of people breaking the covenant with God. But Jeremiah was also a prophet of hope for those who believed God had not forsaken them, even when they were forced into exile. Jeremiah believed that the relationship with God could be restored.
